  • Villa del Arroyo debuts resident designed signage

Andrew Shaffner (pictured right), a Villa del Arroyo resident, and senior graphic design student at Moorpark College, recently took it upon himself to redesign the, "Have a Nice Day, Drive Safely" sign at the park's exit. Andrew, who has lived in the park for 12 years, had grown tired of the previous sign's faded font and colors. Shaffner and fellow graphic design colleague, Omar Calderon (pictured right) gathered inspiration for the project from vintage signage from the 1900's that used block lettering and bold colors to attract attention from a distance. The new sign was designed by Andrew and printed on vinyl by Omar. The colleagues wanted the sign to appear pleasant and easy to read for residents of all ages. The raccoon pictured is a nod to the local wildlife that inhabit the verdant Simi Arroyo. Shaffner hopes that the new sign will help to liven up the park and encourage residents to drive safely as they venture outside the neighborhood. To take a look at Andrew's other designs please visit his online portfolio at Shaff Designs If you have a project in mind that you think could improve your community, please feel free to contact the park office with your ideas! Thanks Andrew and Omar for the awesome new signage.
